Connected Histories, Mirrored Empires: British and French Imperialism from the 17th through the twentieth centuries.

Call for Papers (deadline for abstract submission 1 December 2015)
People submitting paper or panel proposals have been sent letters of acceptance by email. If you have not received a letter of acceptance or rejection, to your paper proposal, please contact britfran@hku.hk to inquire about the status of your paper.

Conference Schedule
The conference will have registration and a welcoming talk and reception on 27 May. Formal panels will be on 28 and 29 May. Provisional panel arrangements will be released shortly and posted here.

Lodging
Conference lodging is available at three hotels. See map below for their location relative to the University of Hong Kong.

Best Western Hotel Harbour View
$600-$700 per night, breakfast and service charge included
1 MTR (mass transit rail) stop or 20 minutes’ walk from conference venue

Holiday Inn Express Hong Kong Soho
HK$880 per night, breakfast and service charge included
2 MTR (mass transit rail) stops from conference venue

Hotel Jen Hong Kong
HK$900 per +$100 for breakfast and 10% extra for service charge
Walking distance to conference venue

To book, fill out and send to them the appropriate hotel booking form—they are accessed via link above. In addition, most hotel and travel websites, including airbnb, work in Hong Kong.

We have a limited number of additional lodgings at Robert Black College, an on-campus residence, these are at rates below the above-quoted hotel rates, and we will give priority for these rooms to graduate students and postdoctoral fellows. If you are a graduate student or postdoctoral fellow, please identify yourself to me at this email address and cc Lucilla Cheng, the administrative officer who will help place the booking, at luci@hku.hk.

Registration Fee
The conference registration fee is to be determined. Food vendor quotes are coming in now. Costs will reflect food and drink cost only. I will send out a separate email with details about conference registration, and an opportunity for you to indicate food allergies/preferences shortly.
