Abstract:
Africa has become a focal point of contention in Sino-Europe relations over the past years. China’s growing involvement and influence in the African continent have caught the attention of European governments, think-tanks, media and publics, and scholars all over the world have expounded the Chinese and European approach to Africa in terms of interests, norms, values, principles and perceptions. Transcending the norms debate, this research is going to bring China and Europe’s cooperation with Africa into interregional perspective. By doing a comparative study focusing on the institutional level, the research intends to shed light on how Chinese and European interregional cooperation mechanism with Africa is contributing to the effectiveness of their engagement.
